Our new home in Tanzania
We came to Tanzania 01th of August 2012, moving from Norway to Tanzania was quite a adventure. From a country where everything works, to an underdevelopt country. So arriving after 14hours fligth to Dar Es Saalams international airport, we landed late in the evening and there where people everywhere. No structure and people that did not speak English that well, but we came through the costums and got our bags. We had two cars waiting for us and our luggage, we knew that all of our belongings was in a container on ship and we would not see it befor October. So we had all our clothes and so on in our luggage. We got a great house with a huge garden, and it was luckely AC innside. Outside it was way over 30C degree, and the humidity was also above 80%. So this was really hot for a family who was used to the cold north:)
The strrets was made of dirt, there was humpty dumpty everywhere and a lot of putholes. But the people ws super friendly, so we got a lot of help.
When we move to a underdevelopt country, you are obligated to have a staff. So we had one housekeeper and a gardener as well as a driver.
here is some memories:
Amalie did not know any English, all she could say was YES or NO. Still here is a picture of her first day at IST in Dar Es Saalam. No teachers could say a word in Norwegian, they only spoke English or Swahiili. So she did not understand anything that was said, but still she managed after about 3 month to speak English pretty well. She also had Swahiili education so she also could speak som Swahiili after a while.
